What is Managed Support?

Here at Coffee Cup we go on about managed support services all the time, but what is it really? Put really simply it’s like having your own IT department without the associated costs.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, of course there are associated costs, but they are significantly less than having your own team on site, paying their wages, for their equipment, covering holidays and everything like that.

In his last post Preventative VS Reactive Maintenance Tom spoke about the differences between the two main types of IT support but I thought I’d elaborate a bit more. Managed support is a continuation of preventive support but taken a further step along.

Here at Coffee Cup Solutions, for all of our managed support services we don’t just fix problems that might crop up or have cropped up. We look at ways that you work as a company and how together we can use IT to improve your day to day running of the business. This may be through sitting down and watching how your team works and either scripting repetitive tasks, training your team on being more efficient or even changing the whole procedure. We log every support task we carry out here and often go through them to see which are the common issues, what keeps happening and how can that be prevented going forward.
